Every year my wife’s family has a pig roast that was a company get together, but now is more of a neighborhood get together of friends and family. We were able to head up for the weekend, and had a great time. Rustyn and Alex were able to meet their Uncle Mike that recently moved from Iowa with his family to Colorado. Were able to have a great time seeing Chad & Mindy’s daughters play soccer and go play on Uncle Mike’s quad’s and papa Dean’s side-by-side. We stopped on the way and the way home in Blanding at their park and had a good break and lunch. Always great to get to see almost the entire Double D Dare family.

One year ago today.. [UPDATE]
One year ago today..
Rarely have I thought where I was a year ago or five years ago, but today is a little bit different, if for only this September 29th. A year ago today while driving from work to a clients office I saw my Aunt Britt driving with her hazards on down main street . I didn’t think too much of it, and continued my drive to Eagar. When I got into Eagar I got a call from my mom telling me that my Grandmother, Bonnie Rogers, had been in an accident. I quickly turned around and met her at the corner where my Grandfather’s car lot once was. (I was later told by a friend that my Grandfather was outside the parking lot often, and she believed that he was there that day to greet her) There I saw an overturned blue Datsun pickup, and a single cab Dodge truck that I was told had just been pulled from on top of the Datsun. The dodge truck had struck my Grandmother’s vehicle, flipped it, and then plowed on top of it.
That accident has set the tone for the last year, and will ripple into the future for my family. So much has happened since, and after a few things have come to a close I’ll give my opinion about what has been going on, but I thought it appropriate to attach the document below. Bonnie’s death has left a gapping whole in our family, and we are still coping and adjusting to life with out her. So much more I’d like to say, but don’t have the words right now..
Never Say Farwell..
Books | Ready Player One
Ready Player One, is a technology infused 80s pop culture movie about a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMO or MMORPG). You follow a number of characters in their journey for an Easter Egg placed inside of a game that would lead to riches beyond riches. The 80s references come again and again, and for someone that know’s about 80s movies, music, and video games it is fun to catch them as they are snuck in. Ernest Cline did an excellent job of roping me in, and from the beginning I was wishing that it was a trilogy of books instead of a single novel. If you are a geek at all you will enjoy Ready Player One.
Just a ‘Little Bit’ of Fun
Another week started with Rustyn getting to ride the new mini-horse named ‘Little Bit’. After he helped out with the chores and making ‘Little Bit’ her new corral. On Saturday we headed to St. Johns to watch Marlen play volleyball, and Mylea at a barrel race. We ate at El Cupidos, which I would recommend as pretty good ‘fast’ mexican food. Sunday we went and saw Gwen and worked away at a puzzle that had just been started on a foyer of the Hinkson Assisted Living Home.
Mylea’s Barrel Race | 17 September
Mylea had a barrel race after Marlen’s volleyball game. It was the first time I’d taken out my Rebel in a while. Took a few pictures while we were there. Rustyn even got to see an airplane take off while we were there.
Apache County Fair Weekend
The County Fair is always fun to go to, but much less fun now that the Horse Races don’t come to St. Johns any more. Mylea showed her goats Ryan and Agnus on Thursday, the first day of the fair, and Rustyn found the train. He and Mylea rode it over, and over again. We had our curly fries, snowcones, and other fair food goodness until 4pm when the carnival opened. Rustyn got his wristband and it was all over. He ran from ride to ride and went down the slide about 20 times. Emily, Dustin, Ty, and Jax showed up as well and everyone had some fun until the rain came. Saturday Mylea sold her goat Ryan for 410 dollars, and was very excited. We took some videos and you can check them out below. On the way home Rustyn crashed hard, and there was even a beautiful sunset to end the weekend.
Frontier Voicemail Email Forward

Frontier Communications has updated their voicemail system to allow for many features that I didn’t know were available until recently. (Thanks Kellie) You have the ability to login to a webpage that will let you listen, delete, and manage your voicemail. (Frontier Messaging) The feature that I really like is the ability to forward voicemails to your email inbox. I have had this feature turned on for a few days, and I really like it. I have such a hard time checking my voicemail on my landline. I think this will be the solution to helping me not have 10+ voicemails that I have not been able to respond to.
To turn this feature on:
1 – Log on to https://webmail.frontiermessaging.com with your phone number with area code as the username, and your voicemail pin is the password.
2 – Click Settings on the top right of the menu.
3 – Click Messaging in the sub-navigation menu.
4 – Under Voicemail Auto Forwarding, check the box that says “Auto-forward all voicemail messages as emails to:”
5 – Enter the email address under that you’d like to receive your voicemail on.
6 – Click Apply.
You are all set. Your voicemail will appear with the number that called you if the Caller ID is available. The attachment will be a .wav file that is playable on most smart phones.
My iPhone plays them back just fine, but one caveat is that the voicemail is seen as a music file by your smartphone so the voicemail will begin to play through its speaker. If you are worried about the contents of the voicemail I would recommend wearing headphones, or remove yourself from earshot before clicking on the message.wav file attached to the email. It is not quite as nice as Google Voice, but a huge step in the right direction.
