EagarDaze Weekend 2011

Friday before all the craziness I DJed a dance in Saint Johns for the Dance Festival.  It was a really good time and the turn out was great.  What a fun way to end the summer for all the youth that are going back to school this week.

Amidst all the rain we caught a break and had our foot rodeo that the RV Rodeo Club Extravaganza puts on every year for EagarDaze.  Among many other events that are going on we have all sorts of racing, roping, and riding events for both cowboys and cowgirls and those just participating in the weekend’s festivities.  The unfortunate thing about running the event is that you don’t get very many pictures of what’s going on.  After the foot rodeo Mylea went over and jumped on the trampoling/rubberband dealio.

On Sunday after church we went over and saw Gwen.  We ate some dinner outside, and had a fun time just relaxing on the grass.  I don’t remember the last time I just laid on the ground and looked up at the clouds.  It was a great ending to a really fun weekend.

Fruita/Salt Lake Weekend

A friend of mine got sealed in Salt Lake and invited us to be at the sealing.  We decided to head up to Fruita to see Amanda’s brother and family, and then run up to Salt Lake for the sealing.  We hung out at the pool, and Rustyn had a blast once again in the water.  While we were up in Salt Lake Chad and Mindy watched the kids, THANKS, and they had a great time.  We actually went and watched a movie, ate at the Roof with a great view, listened to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir practice, and then got a great night sleep.  The next morning we went to a session before the sealing and had such a great experience that I don’t think either of us will ever forget.  Thanks Dare’s for the fun weekend.

Eben Whiting’s Temple Trip

My cousin Eben went through the Temple in July to get ready to leave on his mission in September.  We went down and played in the pool the night before, and found out the Rustyn is not afraid of the water.  He was jumping into the water, and going down the slide all by himself.  Alex was herself, and didn’t mind it either.  She is the most chill baby I’ve ever seen.  The Temple was great, and it was a great experience.  While there is not photos of it, there was massive amounts of Pete’s Fish and Chips consumed directly after the Temple.  You can follow Eben on his mission at http://www.ebenwhiting.com

Craig Choate’s Blessing Dinner

Criag, Andra’s son, had a dinner and party at the Rhoton’s house and invited Rustyn and Alex. The food was amazing and so was the company. Alex and Craig even shared a chair when they decided they had enough fun for the evening.

Memorial Day Rodeo..In July

This rodeo season has been a little delayed between the EVH-1 horse virus and the Wallow Fire.  We had plans to have a Memorial Day rodeo similar to the Marlen Rogers Fun Day in the past.  We were able to get almost all 27 buckles donated, and then had to cancel the rodeo in May.  July 2nd was the first time we were able to rodeo, and it turned out great.  The rule my grandfather had was that you can only wear one buckle at a time so you can only win one at the rodeo.  27 kids went home with a buckle that day.  It was also close to my Dad’s birthday so we celebrated at the park with the fireworks.  They didn’t burn the weeds and grass at the airport so during the show there was a small brush fire.  It was taken care of and not a problem, but almost laughable while Wallow was still not contained a few miles away.

Riding Rustyn’s horse “Alligator”

We went out and rode for the first time in too long.  Rustyn rode for the first time all by himself on “his” horse Leaf Getter, which he calls Alligator.  It was also Alex’s first ride.  We headed out and had a good time just getting to unplug for a few minutes.  The sunset wasn’t that bad either.
